Childcare Sufficiency Assessment 2017

Childcare Sufficiency Assessment 2017

Why are we doing this?:

WCBC has a statutory duty under the Childcare Act 2006 to secure as far as reasonably practicable, sufficient childcare for 0-15 year olds to meet the needs of working parents/carers or parents/carers education or training that will lead to work.

Integral to this duty is the requirement to complete a Childcare Sufficiency Assessment (CSA). The objective of the CSA is to identify gaps in the provision of childcare and to set out actions to narrow these gaps moving towards a position of ‘sufficiency’ across the County Borough

What do we want to know?:

In order to complete the Childcare Sufficiency Assessment for 2017 – 2021 we are seeking the views of parents and carers. We want to hear from those who currently use childcare, those who wish to use childcare in the future and those who do not use childcare. We hope to ascertain how much childcare and of what type parents are using; what parents value most in the childcare that they use; why parents don’t use childcare and what the barriers are, if any, to those who wish to use childcare.

This will help us to understand what the gaps are and what actions we need to take in order to meet the needs of parents, carers and children.
